#RebukeTheCalories: 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria

Since I couldn’t get all my boss chicks and industry friends together for my Glow in The Dark theme birthday party last week; I decided on the perfect mid-week happy hour  gathering with authentic italian appetizers and wine. A couple of my friends that live in the Hollywood area suggested 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria. It’s conveniently located below the 1600 Vine Luxury apartment living off Hollywood & Vine. When you enter off the street, you are greeted by this beautiful chandelier and a cute pizza guy kneading out pizza dough. Upstairs is the bar area. First order of business, turning water into wine and ordering some truffle cheese bread.

800pizza_2.jpgBetween the breaking of truffle cheese bread and excessive amounts of wine, I nibbled on broccolini, baked goat cheese, marinated olives, and antipasto plate. It had been a really stressful week. I felt like drinking my life away. Unfortunately the ‘happy’ hour must come to an end and back to hustle we go. But out of courtesy and respect for my birthday celebration, my waiter kept the $5 happy hour wine special going for about 2 more rounds. als. When we needed another round, waiter was nice, he even participated in one of my birthday games called #wineaboutit. As the wine poured in, so did our laughs throughout the night. Where we were sitting you could see the city lights as people walking down the boulevard. I was snapping the whole time but didn’t save any of my pictures. Oh well, life is too short. Thank God I was able to celebrate another healthy birthday with amazing friends, good food and great wine.

…its about being in the moment and creating memories instead of trying to create a moment to capture a memory #KahluasKonfessions

#RebukeTheCalories: Spring Comfort Foods

There is something a California rain that’s sexy but especially during seasonal changes. The domestic goddess deep inside me was craving all sorts of yummy fattening comfort foods. I #RebukeTheCalories in name of Jesus and decided to cook a few healthy comfort food options instead. Just because I’m hibernating for the weekend doesn’t mean I’m undoing months of suffering and sacrificing for the fashion gawds. I’m still watching my girlish figure. Memorial Day is in two weeks. Summer is just around the corner. Oh the yummy temptations. A quick store run before the real heavy rains comes, I made sure all essential foods and snacks were stocked. I prepared a grocery list keeping in mind what foods I already have at home that I can incorporate my lifestyle meal plan and my monthly food budget.

Grocery List:

  • Bell Peppers
  • Parmesan
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Tomato soup
  • Basil seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Sourdough bread
  • Rice O Roni Herb & Butter Flavored
  • Chicken breast
  • Bacon
  • Mixed greens salad
  • Caesar dressing

Meal 1 includes stuffed roasted bell peppers top with melted cheese. The stuffing is made of Rice O Roni and baked chicken breast.

Meal 2 includes a bacon grilled cheese sandwich with basil and garlic flavored tomato soup.

Meal 3 includes a mixed green salad topped with the left over chicken breast, bacon crumbs (chopped boiled egg optional) and caesar salad dressing with garlic parmesan cheese bread.

You are on a budget and you are domestically challenged such as myself but still want to make a big impression besides making tacos? Impress on your date by trying one of these inexpensive meals that are not only easy to make but are healthy and delicious too!
